COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Two Midlands defense attorneys, both of whom have had their fair share of murder trials, sound off on the not guilty verdict in in the Casey Anthony trial. Veteran attorneys Jack Swerling and I.S. Leevy Johnson agree that the jury in the Casey Anthony murder trial did not have enough evidence to convict the 26-year-old woman of killing her two-yer-old daughter, Caylee. However, Swerling admits he was shocked initially. Johnson wasn’t surprised. Both believe media attention led to public outrage that wasn’t supported by the evidence ultimately considered by the jury. Consequently, jurors felt there was reasonable doubt. Experts believe Anthony could be released from prison Thursday for credit for time served. After that, some suspect she will write a book.
