Thief breaks into home of Charleston police chief

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say the home of Charleston’s police chief has been burglarized.

Police say Chief Greg Mullen’s wife saw someone running away from the back of her house as she arrived home around 3:45 p.m. Friday.

The man ran along a marsh and into the woods. Mullen’s wife went inside, saw that a kitchen window had been broken out and called 911.

Police say about $1,000 worth of office equipment was missing from the home. Authorities searched the neighborhood, but no one has been arrested.
