Dogs Teeth Sawed Off After Being Used As A Bait Dog
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “When she walked in, he had this ball in his mouth and we all thought well isn’t that cute, he’s bringing his ball,” says Jane Brundage, Co-Founder and VP of Petsinc in West Columbia. Yet, that cuteness soon wore off. “We noticed he had little tiny bite wounds all over his body, head to toe,” says Brundage. That wasn’t all that was wrong with Cowboy, He was also underwieght and the worst discovery, had yet to come. When Jane Brundage tried to check his age through his teeth, she discovered something far worse. “All of teeth had been broken off, intentionally some of them sawed down,” says Brundage. Brundage says it became obvious, Cowboy was a bait dog. Brundage says, many times the teeth are removed from the bait dog to prevent them from fighting back. Brundage along with other Petsince employees notified authorities about cowboy and their suspicions of other dogs from the Gaston area. “Cowboy isn’t hte only dog this has happened to, this is evidence of organized activity,” says Brundage. But for Cowboy, the trauma of being a bait dog is over. And people are lining up to take him in. Jane Conly fostered him for the night on Sunday. “I’ve got a couple of little foster kittens, like four or five weeks old, that he bonded with, they snuggled it was like his little babies, says Conly. Yet on Monday, Cowboy was back at Petsinc, about to go home with another family, who was also interested in fostering him. Jane Conly says, even though he’s been traumatized he still wants to be loved. “For a dog who was never loved before, he’s got a lot of love to give,” says Conly. On Wednesday, Vets here at Petsinc will re-evaluate him, from there he could be adopted. As for his medical treatments those will come one step at a time. If you would like to help with Cowboys medical costs, you can do so by sending donations to Petsinc P.O. Box 6394, West Columbia 29171
