Clemson G Cory Stanton leaves basketball team
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson reserve guard Cory Stanton is leaving the program.
Coach Brad Brownell announced Stanton’s decision Monday. Brownell said Stanton was leaving to join a team closer to his home of Springfield, Tenn. Stanton played in 33 games as a freshman last season. He averaged 2.4 points in nearly 11 minutes of action per game.
Stanton said in a statement he loved Clemson and the program, but felt it better to continue his playing career closer to home.
Clemson has a class of five freshmen coming in next fall. Three of them are guards.
