Gingrich continues campaign visit to SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Former House Speaker and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is continuing a two-day campaign visit to South Carolina, which holds the first GOP primary in the South.

Gingrich speaks Wednesday at a meeting of leaders of the state’s electric cooperatives in Charleston.

It’s his second visit to the state since he announced he was running for the GOP nomination. Gingrich plans to return to Iowa this weekend for more campaigning there.

Another GOP candidate, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, campaigns Wednesday in Myrtle Beach before moving on to appearances in Spartanburg and Rock Hill.
