4 injured in boat explosion at Lake Wylie marina

TEGA CAY, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a boat exploded after refueling at a York County marina.

Officials said six people were on board the boat, which exploded after the man turned on the ignition after refueling around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Tega Cay marina on Lake Wylie.

Authorities say four people were injured in the blast, and three of them were taken to the hospital.

Fuel spilled into the lake, and a fire burned on the surface of the water for several minutes. Firefighters pulled the boat away from the marina and it sank in the deeper water.

The conditions of the people injured were not available.

Crews remained at the scene to assess the environmental effects of the spilled fuel.
