Bones found in 50-foot abandoned Anderson well
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — An Anderson County deputy investigating a separate case has found human remains in an abandoned well.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Chad McBride said the officer was walking around some land Thursday north of Anderson when he looked down in the 50-foot well and saw what appeared to be human bones.
Crews checked the remains and determined they were from a human. Now, deputies are trying to determine the safest way to retrieve the bones. They also are checking the area around the well for any other remains.
McBride says it is too early to determine if the bones were from a man or woman, or when or how the person died.
