Water Festival honors Beaufort’s 300th birthday

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — The Beaufort Water Festival is opening for its yearly run on the South Carolina coast with the traditional concerts, sporting competitions, shows and other events.

The 10-day festival starts Friday and continues through July 24.

This year’s theme honors the 56-year tradition of the festival and Beaufort’s 300th anniversary.

The festival opens Friday with a concert by the Parris Island Marine Band and a fireworks show at dusk.
