Anderson remains ID’d as missing 45-year-old woman
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say the bones found inside a 50-foot deep abandoned well near Anderson belong to 45-year-old woman missing since May.
Deputy Anderson County Coroner Don McCown says Friday that the bones have been identified as belonging to Rebecca Lynn Simmons.
An autopsy done Friday was inconclusive about what killed Simmons, so McCown says more tests are needed. He says there were no injuries indicating foul play.
Deputies say an officer investigating a different case saw the bones at the bottom of the well Thursday morning. McCown says the body was likely inside the well for at least a month.
Simmons’ family has said she used to hang around an abandoned house near the well with her boyfriend.
