Bachmann spends night in SC governor’s mansion

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann stayed at the South Carolina governor’s mansion as she campaigned in the state this week.
Gov. Nikki Haley has said she’d endorse a candidate before the primary. But she said Tuesday she’s no closer to making her choice. The state’s first female governor says she’s invited all GOP candidates, and Bachmann was the first to spend the night.
The governor’s endorsement would be a huge win in South Carolina’s first-in-the-South presidential primary.
Haley says Bachmann was a guest at her house, and payment isn’t necessary. She says it’s about being a good hostess for the state.
Haley says they didn’t talk politics.
Bachmann is not the first presidential candidate to stay at the mansion. Arizona Sen. John McCain had an overnight stay.
