Two Dead, Toddler Hospitalized in Triple Shooting
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “I just wish it would’ve never happened, I wish we could rewind it,” says Byyinah Washington. Byyinah Washington says her brother, DeShawn, loved his family. “He was a good person, he loved his daughter with all his heart, all he always talk about was his family and that’s all he wanted was his family, that was it,” says Washington. Byyinah, says that love was especiallly evident when it came to his two year old daughter. But on Wednesday night, love took a turn for the worse, as Richland County deputies say DeShawn Washington shot and killed his girlfriend, Joann Hill. Meanwhile, Washington’s two year old child, was caught in the crossfire. Moments later, Washington turned the gun on himself. Sheriff Leon Lott, had this to say on Wednesday night, “We have a mother and child who have been shot, we have a male who is deceased from a gunshot wound,” said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. Family member say the couple dated for 10 years, and never had an issue with domestic disputes. “No, no other kind of domestic disputes, they were always a happy family,” says Byyinah Washington. The events from Wednesday night, has this family shocked. “Yeah, we was really surprised, because we never thought that it would be our brother or him to do something like this,” says Byyinah Washington. A domestic dispute, gone horribly wrong, leaving two families to grieve. Yet, Byyinah says they still have a common thread. A DOMESTIC DISPUTE, GONE HORRBILY WRONG, LEAVING TWO FAMILIES TO GRIEVE. “They side grieving and we still grieving, but we all going to just come together and be there for the baby, our first priority is to look out for her,” says Byyinah Washington. Richland County deputies say they are still looking at evidence, trying to piece toghether, exactly what happened Wednesday night.
