Batesburg-Leesville couple killed on Lake Murray

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Batesburg-Leesville couple died after their 17-foot boat crashed into a dock on Lake Murray.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says authorities got a call at around 10:30 p.m. Friday reporting an accident.
Crews found 53-year-old Timothy C. Jones on the boat. He was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries.
Authorities found 45-year-old Kimberly S. Bailey’s body from the shoreline of Dreher Island on Saturday morning. The coroner said she also died from head injuries.
Investigators said Jones and Bailey had left a friend’s house and were heading toward Chapin when Jones missed the dock, which extended about 60 feet from land. He was ejected upon impact.
Last year, four people died on the same day in two separate boating accidents on the lake.
