Police: Rock Hill teen drowns on Lake Wylie

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Rock Hill teen has drowned while swimming in Lake Wylie.

York County Coroner Sabrina Gast says 16-year-old Detrez Mix of Rock Hill drowned Friday at around 7:15 p.m.

Authorities say Mix was swimming with some other people near the lake’s southern shore.

Deputies say they were called to a possible drowning and tried to resuscitate the teen. Mix was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Gast says she thinks the drowning was an accident.
