Scott meeting with reporters on debt ceiling
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina U.S. Rep. Tim Scott is meeting with reporters to discuss the latest developments on efforts to raise the federal debt ceiling.
Scott is meeting with reporters In North Charleston on Monday and is expected to respond to a report that House Speaker John Boehner is developing a fall back plan to raise the debt ceiling.
Boehner says he told rank-and-file conservative lawmakers late Sunday that his plan will require them to make some sacrifices.
Scott has said his office has been logging dozens of calls and emails every day about the debt ceiling, and it’s the top subject at town hall meetings with voters.
The deadline for raising the debt ceiling is Aug. 2.
