Spartanburg jail van hit, no serious injuries
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Seven inmates in a Spartanburg County jail van were taken to the hospital for checkups after their van was hit by a woman driving a pickup truck.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported Wednesday that 24-year-old Amanda Epps of Greenville has been ticketed for disregarding a traffic signal.
Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Ivey said none of the inmates suffered serious injuries in Tuesday’s wreck and all were checked at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Highway Patrol Cpl. Bill Rhyne says the van was hit on its passenger side. Rhyne said the van driver was making a left turn when Epps went through the intersection and hit the van.
