SC teen dies after swerving to avoid a deer

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 17-year-old South Carolina boy died after he swerved to miss a deer and crashed his truck.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Josh Shore says Ryan Anthony Lee Sant of Townville crashed early Sunday after trying to avoid a deer, then overcorrecting. His pickup truck flipped. He was partially ejected and died at the scene.

Shore says Sant and two friends were on their way back to a campsite on Hartwell Lake, after going to a grocery store on S.C. 24. Both passengers were not injured.
