SC’s MUSC reports record outside research funding
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Despite a slow economy, the Medical University of South Carolina reports it received a record $238 million in outside research funding for the fiscal year that ended June 30.
The Charleston university announced Wednesday the figure represented an increase of more than $4 million over the previous fiscal year.
It was the fourth consecutive year that MUSC received more than $200 million in outside research support.
Last year’s figure included more than $117 million from the National Institutes of Health.
