Metal recycler expanding in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A metal recycler is expanding in South Carolina, creating 50 new jobs.

The state Commerce Department announced Thursday that Adams Scrap Recycling is investing more than $3 million in its Greenville operation.

The agency says the company plans to buy property next to its current location, more than doubling the size of its operation and adding railroad access. The company has 25 workers now.

The expansion allows the company to grow its recycling of glass, paper, plastics and electronics.

The company plans to add the jobs over the next three years.

Adams Scrap was founded in 2009. General manager Rajesh Desor says the expansion will help Greenville reduce waste and promote recycling.

State officials say no financial incentives were offered.
