Body found in bushes in downtown Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Police say a passer-by found the body of a middle-aged man in downtown Columbia.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons says someone driving by saw the partially-clothed body in the bushes about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The coroner’s office plans to perform an autopsy Wednesday to determine how the man died.

Investigators say there were no visible signs of trauma.
