COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The nationwide Crossing of America Tour stops in Columbia to bring awareness about fallen soldiers and their families and pays tribute to military veterans past and present. With less than a month from the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the effort to encourage South Carolinians to remember veterans shifts into high gear. The project to erect a First Responders Memorial is $80,000 short of completion. Officials hope the tour, which includes two Jeeps wrapped in painted-on American flags that travel along the east coast raising awareness, gets folks in the MIdlands focused honoring veteran 24/7.
