US agent accused of raping SC woman facing prison

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina woman claims in court documents that a Secret Service agent raped her on a couch in his office when she was arrested on embezzlement charges and warned her not to tell anyone if she didn’t want to get into bigger trouble.
The woman eventually pleaded guilty and is now asking a judge to toss out her 15-month prison sentence. Her attorney, Ray Mansolillo, says the woman’s defense attorney in the case ignored the accusations. He also says a judge was never told of the allegations.
Prosecutors say they told the judge everything they knew when the woman was sentenced.
The woman is supposed to report to federal prison Tuesday.
The Associated Press typically does not name alleged victims of sexual assault and is not identifying the woman.
