21-month-old SC girl drowns in babysitter’s pool

LAURENS, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 21-month-old Laurens County girl has drowned in a pool at her babysitter’s house.

Coroner Nick Nichols says Demauria Martin was found floating in the pool about 4 p.m. Tuesday. Emergency workers were unable to revive her. The toddler was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The coroner says Demauria’s twin brother was in the house when she was found.
