Spartanburg-based Milliken board elects chairman

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg-based textile manufacturer Milliken & Co. has elected banking and insurance executive Harold Chandler as its non-executive chairman of the board.

Chandler replaces Dan Sanders, who is retiring. The title means Chandler holds no executive position with the company.

Milliken says Chandler has been on the company’s board for 10 years. He has more than 38 years of experience in banking and insurance.

Chandler began his career in 1972 with The Citizens & Southern National Bank of South Carolina and eventually became its president. Since 2004, he has been chief operating officer of New Jersey-based Univers Workplace Solutions, a benefits firm.

The Wofford College graduate is chairman of its board of trustees.

Billionaire textile magnate Roger Milliken was chairman when he died last year.
