SC drug dealer uses up chances, gets 10 years
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — A Rock Hill drug dealer given a third chance at freedom has run out of chances.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/ovZ0Dj ) 20-year-old Donquavis McConnell was sentenced to 10 years in prison without parole after being caught with crack cocaine despite getting breaks on previous charges.
McConnell was among eight people police warned in 2009 to stop selling drugs in Rock Hill. Prosecutor Kevin Brackett says the eight were offered job training and told the charges would not be filed if they stayed out of trouble.
Three months later, McConnell was caught with crack cocaine and sentenced to probation. He was arrested again last September. He pleaded guilty Thursday to drug manufacturing and possession.
Police say four of the eight people given a second chance have been arrested again.
