Hundreds attend North Charleston 9/11 ceremony
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A large American flag was suspended between the raised ladders of fire trucks as several hundred people attended a North Charleston service commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
The Friday ceremony was one dozens of events being held across the state to mark Sunday’s anniversary.
Three 9/11 first responders who now live in South Carolina spoke.
Charleston County EMS worker David Palawsta was at the twin towers that day and said the first responders who died were doing the work they loved.
FBI Agent Brian Womble investigated the terrorists who passed through Boston’s Logan Airport and said the best way to honor the legacy of those who died is to prevent future terror attacks.
