Dog Fighting Bust Leaves Life or Death Decision For 30 Other Dogs
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “For a couple of seconds, we were overwhelmed and were trying to figure out, how are we going to handle this?”, says Denise Wilkinson, CEO of Pawmetto Lifeline. Thursday night, Pawmetto Lifeline received a call for help, from a local shelter. “They were very distraught because they needed to tak in 30 dogs from the dog-fighting bust,” says Wilkinson Thirty dogs, the shelter did not have room for. Leaving the only two choices for the dogs, either find them a new place to go, or put them down. Pawmetto Lifeline could not let them die. “It didn’t take but just a minute for us to go you know what, it’s the right thing to do. We’re going to do it, we will figure it out,” says Wilkinson Yet, just as Pawmetto Lifeline answered the call for help, they now need your help. “We just want them to be treated like family members, where they are loved and cared for,” says Wilkinson. Some of the dogs have since been moved into foster care until they are adopted, but some are still at Pawmetto Lifeline’s shelter. “Once they come to us, we try to do everything in our power, to guarantee them that second chance,” says Wilkinson And until someone adopts them, they will stay there, under that care. “We guarantee them life,” says Wilkinson.
