SC authorities identify man who killed cab driver

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Richland County authorities have identified the man who they say fatally shot a cab driver, led police on a chase and then turned the gun on himself.

WIS-TV reported Saturday (http://bit.ly/pAYf4D) that sheriff’s deputies identified the man as 20-year-old Nicholas Rivers of Camden. Investigators haven’t released the names of the victims, who include a female taxi driver whom they say Rivers robbed before killing the second driver.

They say he robbed the female driver, made her call another cab for him and stole her cell phone before she drove off. Her 7-year-old son was in the car with her.

Authorities say when the second cab arrived, Rivers shot the driver several times, killing him. He then led deputies on a chase and killed himself at a road block.
