Cops: DUI suspect threw wine bottles at people

FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 20-year-old man has been charged with driving under the influence after he was seen throwing wine bottles out of his car at pedestrians.

York County deputies said they tried to stop the car in Fort Mill after the bottle-throwing report around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, but the man sped off. An officer followed at a distance because the car was driving so erratically, and saw the vehicle crash and flip over on its roof.

Authorities say Taylor Janiak also crashed into a stop sign and ran through a yard.

Janiak was taken to the hospital after the crash. He is charged with DUI and failure to stop for blue lights. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
