Man beaten to death with hammer in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Investigators say a 40-year-old man has died after witnesses said he was beaten by a man with a hammer.

Authorities said Benjamin Singleton died Friday at the hospital, a few hours after a woman called 911to report he had been severely injured.

Police say the 911 caller told authorities her boyfriend had possibly killed someone and used a hammer to attack the victim.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine how Singleton died.

Police say a 25-year-old man was taken into custody and questioned, but no charges have been filed.
