Columbia police chief to trade badge for apron

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Columbia Chief Randy Scott is trading his badge for an apron as he makes biscuits for charity.

Scott will be at the Hardees on Piney Grove Road from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday helping to make the fast food chain’s biscuits.

The restaurant has offered to give 20 percent of all its proceeds on Wednesday to the Columbia Police Foundation. The charity helps police officers in need, as well as funding community policing activities and crime prevention programs.

Scott says he is looking forward to putting on the apron because when he was young he used to make biscuits with his grandmother.
