COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A joint announcement of the GOP’s for New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada and South Carolina vow to fight Florida and maintain their early primary dates. South Carolina GOP Chair Chad Connelly and others converged on the State House steps to make voice their displeasure and disappointment in Florida’s attempt to be first to hold its republican nomination primary. Traditionally, the four early states, SC, NH, IA and NV have been first in their regions to hold the election process. Florida GOP officials recently announced their primary would be held January 31, a month ahead of schedule. State GOP officials condemned the decision, saying the Sunshine State’s leaders are breaking their own party’s rules. State lawmakers say once Florida sets an official date, they will pick an earlier date to ensure remaining first in the South.
