SC Sheriff Sideswipes School Bus

ROWESVILLE, S.C. (AP) – The Highway Patrol says the Colleton County sheriff won’t face charges after his personal sports utility vehicle sideswiped a school bus in Orangeburg County. Authorities said Sheriff George Malone was trying to pass several vehicles on U.S. 21 south of Rowesville around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when his vehicle struck the school bus as it made a left turn. Investigators say the sheriff suffered minor injuries, as did four of the students on the bus. Troopers aren’t sure whether Malone was on or off duty at the time of the wreck.
