Tigers Crack Top Ten, Gamecocks Drop In Polls

(WOLO) — It looks like all that preseason hype was for the wrong team in South Carolina. After five weeks of the college football season, it’s Clemson that’s ranked in the top ten and Carolina that is trying to shake things up to get better results. In this week’s new polls, Clemson moves up to #8. The Gamecocks drop to #14 in the Coaches’ Poll, #18 in the Associated Press Top 25. Clemson became the first ACC team to beat three straight top 20 ranked opponents when the Tigers knocked off Virginia Tech 23-3 last Saturday. Steve Spurrier’s team struggled on offense and lost at home 16-13 to Auburn. The Head Ball Coach has promised changes this week when Kentucky comes to Columbia. Kickoff is set for 12:21 p.m. You can watch that game on ABC Columbia. Clemson will host a 1-4 Boston College team Saturday at 3 p.m.
