SLED: Ex-Cherokee deputy had sex with informant
GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) — A former Cherokee County deputy has been arrested after the State Law Enforcement Division says the officer had sex with an informant he was working with.
SLED said 41-year-old Albert Phillips was arrested Tuesday and charged with misconduct in office.
An arrest warrant says Phillips was a narcotics officer nearly three years ago when he had sex with the confidential informant, who had a charge pending in Cherokee County.
A phone listing for Phillips had a full voicemail box and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
