COLUMBIA, S.S. (WOLO) — Doctors urge all men to have their prostate tested but especially encourage African American men to do so. Doctors say men of color are diagnosed with prostate cancer ten years earlier than their white male counterparts. Genetics, poor diet and unequal access to health care services are contributing factors. Black men should get tested at age 40 and yearly thereafter to White men needing to be tested at age 50 and yearly afterward thereafter. A prostate retcal exam could cost more than $100 but Brookland Baptist Church has teamed with up Palmetto Health Richland to offer free screenings all month long.
