SC courts gathering attorney information

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s courts have developed a new system to manage contact information for attorneys who practice law in the state.

The state Supreme Court said Monday that the South Carolina Judicial Department is starting a program that lets members of the South Carolina Bar change their contact information online.

All attorneys must verify their contact information by November 18. Members must have a mailing address, email address and phone number.

The courts say the system will help the state get ready to start filing court documents electronically. The state has also finished implementing a statewide case management system at the Circuit Court and magistrate court levels in all 46 counties.

Officials are working to develop a case management system for appellate and family courts.
