30 arrive for start of Occupy Charleston protest

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The protests against Wall Street and high unemployment have come to Charleston.
About 30 people showed up Wednesday at a city park for the start of a protest by a group called Occupy Charleston. The group has a permit to stay at Brittlebank Park on the Ashley River through Sunday.
During the protests, organizers plan to have what they are calling mini-marches around the city.
Groups of up to 49 people will protest outside City Hall, banks and other locations. If the crowds were bigger, the marches would require a city parade permit.
Organizers say their goal is to take democracy back from corporations.
