CLEMSON, S.C. (WOLO) — Clemson freshman receiver, Sammy Waikins, is off to great start in his college career with over 700 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns as his Tigers are 7-0 and ranked 7th in the BCS. With the way Watkins has been making plays this year for the Tigers, head coach Dabo Swinney feels his star wide-out pulls in the ball like Spiderman. With very high maturity, and a cool head, Watkins is starting to get a lot of attention under the national spotlight which includes talk about being a Heisman Trophy candidate. Watkins broke the Clemson single game mark for all-purpose yards in last week’s 56-45 win at Maryland with 345 yards. C.J. Spiller held the previous record with 312.
