Rock Hill woman gets 25 years for hit and run

YORK, S.C. (AP) — A Rock Hill woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges in the death of a man struck and killed on a highway earlier this year.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/qlWxGI ) that 46-year-old Dianne Alice Webster pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence with a death, hit-and-run with injury and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police say 23-year-old Lorenzo Hemphill was killed and his brother was hurt when they were struck as they walked along a road in York on January 15.

Prosecutors say Webster drove away from the scene and was stopped later for speeding. They say she failed field sobriety tests and tested positive for the prescription drug Xanax.
