SC doctor’s surgery being observed 400 miles away
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A Charleston physician is performing laser cataract surgery that’s being observed by his colleagues 400 miles away in Florida.
Dr. Kerry Solomon performs the surgery Saturday in Charleston and it will be telecast to physicians attending the meeting of the Academy of Ophthalmology in Orlando, Fla.
The session is the world’s largest meeting of ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals. Following the surgery, Solomon flies to Orlando to address the group in person.
The surgery is one of four procedures that will be remotely viewed by doctors attending the meeting.
