Gingrich plans 2-day swing to court SC voters

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Former U.S. House Speaker and GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is planning to make two days of campaign stops in South Carolina.
Gingrich plans to talk about jobs and the economy at a Greenville fast-food restaurant Friday before heading to the Aiken Republican Club dinner for a keynote speech.
Gingrich plans campaign stops on Saturday in Myrtle Beach, Florence and Greenville.
Gingrich has been trying to build support for a campaign that’s not made much headway in South Carolina, which holds the first-in-the-South GOP primary on Jan. 21.
State Republican Party executive director Matt Moore said Gingrich will also pay his $35,000 fee and file papers with the state GOP’s chairman while in Greenville.
Moore says U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann’s husband will file papers and pay the fee as well.
