North Charleston police kill pistol-wielding man

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — North Charleston police have shot and killed a man carrying a pistol after he shot at a couple and their child.

Authorities say that 63-year-old Cody Adams was killed following a brief standoff with police Thursday. There were no other injuries.

The manager of the mobile home park where Adams was living described him as troubled and lonely. She said he moved to the park after a dispute with his brother who wanted to sell their late mother’s home and did not want him living there.

The officer who shot Adams has been is suspended with pay while the State Law Enforcement Division investigates.
