VMI, Citadel renew Military Classic of the South

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — After a four-year hiatus, The Citadel and VMI are renewing the Military Classic of the South.
The game between the state military colleges of South Carolina and Virginia got tougher to schedule after the Keydets moved to the Big South Conference, but the game is back for the next several years. That means the Silver Shako trophy will be on the line for the 77th time.
Citadel coach Kevin Higgins says the campus is buzzing. The Bulldogs won the last game against VMI, 70-28, in 2007.
In other games involving South Carolina’s Football Championship Subdivision teams, Wofford hosts Elon; Furman travels to Chattanooga; Presbyterian is at Liberty; Coastal Carolina heads to Stony Brook; Charleston Southern is at Gardner-Webb; and South Carolina State heads to Howard.
