COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — More than 500 educators, business leaders and legislators gathered in Columbia to discuss how schools can compete globally, and they hope a new website assists in reaching that goal. The day-long conference was organized by the state Association of School Administrators. The website, www.oureducationvision.com, seeks to start conversations on building local support for public education by encouraging the public to voice their views. Educators hope people will visit the site and offer what they like, don’t like and what needs to change regarding public education statewide. The site is the result of months of debate by school superintendents across South Carolina, as they seek to address challenges facing public education. The event, called ‘South Carolina Education Connect: Competing in a Global Society,’ was the first time such a large group gathered to address public education.
