76-year-old man dies after going through light
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — A 76-year-old Anderson County man has died after his vehicle went through a red light and broadsided a sport utility vehicle.
Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the state Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at 4:40 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 76 near Anderson.
Anderson County deputy coroner Charlie Boseman says the Belton man died less than an hour later in an Anderson hospital. Boseman says an autopsy will help determine if a medical problem caused the man to run the red light. He had not identified the man, pending notification of family.
The SUV’s driver, 50-year-old Wanda Strickland of Honea Path, and two children in the vehicle with her were taken to the hospital. Boseman says Strickland was alert and talking.
