Spartanburg County man dies underneath vehicle

ROEBUCK, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 59-year-old Spartanburg County man died in his garage after being pinned beneath a vehicle.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger says Robert William Pitman of Roebuck was pronounced dead at the scene about 4 p.m. Saturday.

The coroner says Pitman was working on a vehicle in his garage, when it collapsed off of a jack that was lifting it up and trapped him underneath. No autopsy is planned. Toxicology results are pending.
