Bachmann pushes everyone-pays income tax plan
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican presidential contender Michele Bachmann wants an overhaul of the nation’s tax income system that would have the nation’s poor paying more.
In an interview with The Associated Press on Monday, the Minnesota congresswoman and IRS tax lawyer talked up her own tax plans to compete with proposals from rival Herman Cain and Mitt Romney.
Bachmann lately has proposed doing away with the Reagan-era earned income tax credit that encourages people to work.
Warren Buffett had complained about his secretary paying more of her income in taxes than he did in August. Bachmann said then he should write a check if he wasn’t paying enough.
Bachmann said people who can afford to pay more should and they shouldn’t pay less than people with low or middle incomes.
