Cops: Man charged with tossing brick at patrol car

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 20-year-old man has been arrested after he threw a brick at a Richland County Sheriff’s Office patrol car.

Deputies say the cruiser was hit by a brick as a deputy exited South Carolina Highway 277 near downtown Columbia around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the brick damaged the hood and windshield of the cruiser, but the deputy driving was not injured.

Investigators say Deonta Reaves was arrested a short time later and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He remained in the Richland County jail Monday and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
