SC beach town weighs steps to control parking
SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — The Town of Surfside Beach is reviewing ways to get a handle on summertime parking problems.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/vqVQ0R ) the town spent $40,000 last year on a study of the summer parking situation. And council members meet Tuesday to review which recommendations in the study can put in place by next summer.
The study included several immediate steps to deal with parking such as planting trees or installing posts along Ocean Boulevard to prevent parking in no-parking zones. It also suggests the town could boot or tow cars that are illegally parked.
In the long term, the report suggests the town could buy undeveloped lots to use for parking areas.
