Spurrier Says Shaw Will Play vs. Florida

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Gamecock fans can exhale. Steve Spurrier says Connor Shaw should play this Saturday against Florida. The sophomore quarterback suffered a concussion at the end of the Arkansas game. Shaw is USC’s only quarterback with any significant college experience. Shaw took over for senior Stephen Garcia midway through the season. Garcia was kicked off the team for failing a drug test. His quarterback’s health isn’t the only thing Steve Spurrier was positive about at Tuesday’s weekly press conference. The Ball Coach says South Carolina football is in a position to do a lot of good things. A win this Saturday against Florida would improve USC to 8-2 on the season. It would give the Gamecocks wins in back-to-back seasons over the Gators for the first time ever, as well as give USC its first 6-win season in the SEC and the first undefeated season against SEC East divisional opponents. Florida at South Carolina will kick off Saturday at 12:10.
